Flights from Australia to Karachi — Airlines, Prices & Baggage
Karachi is home for a large Pakistani community in Australia. Here is how to fly it for less, from the best connecting airlines to the right time to book.

Karachi is home for a large Pakistani community across Sydney and Melbourne. Like the rest of Pakistan, it is a one-stop route from Australia, and knowing your options makes a real difference to the price. Here is how it works in 2026.
How you get there: one stop
There are no direct flights from Australia to Karachi, so every itinerary connects once through a hub. Karachi is well served, and the competition between carriers keeps fares honest. The main options:
- Etihad via Abu Dhabi
- Emirates via Dubai (Dubai is the most-chosen connection on this route)
- Qatar Airways via Doha
- Thai Airways via Bangkok
- SriLankan Airlines via Colombo
- Batik Air via Kuala Lumpur
A typical journey runs around 17 to 22 hours all-in, depending on the connection. The Gulf hubs are the most frequent and usually the smoothest, while the Southeast Asian and Colombo routings can be cheaper at certain times of year.
Choosing your connection
For Karachi, the Dubai and Abu Dhabi routings are the most popular for good reason: frequent flights, short second legs, and strong baggage allowances. If comfort or a short connection matters, especially travelling with children or older parents, tell us and we will plan the routing around it.
When to book
Karachi fares get busy at predictable times:
- Book six to ten weeks ahead for normal travel for the lowest fares.
- Book three to five months ahead for summer, Eid and December, when families fly home in numbers and seats sell out early.
- Mid-week departures are often cheaper than weekends if your dates are flexible.
Baggage: don't book on price alone
Families flying to Karachi rarely travel light, and the cheapest online fare usually carries the smallest baggage allowance. Buying extra at the airport is the most expensive way to carry weight. On the fares we hold, checked baggage is generous, so you can bring the gifts and the extra suitcase without paying at the counter. See how the main carriers compare in our airline baggage allowance guide.
